Solution Solar Battery DIY Parts
I installed a 10 kWh LiFePO4 solar battery last spring, mainly because my evening electricity bill was becoming ridiculous. My rooftop panels finish producing power just as our starts cooking, showering, and charging devices. Before the battery, I sent a lot of daytime solar back to the grid and bought expensive power between 5 and 9 p.m.
The difference was noticeable from the first month. I set the battery to charge from solar only, then discharge during the evening peak. Our grid usage fell from 620 kWh to 360 kWh, although weather and my family’s habits change the result. In terms, my bill dropped by €75 that month. It is not a money machine, and savings will vary with tariffs, but using my solar after sunset feels better than exporting it for very little.
I spent long comparing battery chemistry, usable capacity, inverter compatibility, and the lifepo4 preis before ordering. The cheapest quote was not the best value because it excluded installation and a battery management system. I chose a LiFePO4 battery with a warranty and have been happy with its operation. I notice it in the utility room.
My headache came during a week. The battery reached its minimum state of charge earlier than expected, so the house switched to grid power before bedtime. I thought the storage system had failed, but the app showed that the inverter had reserved 20% capacity. Lowering that reserve to 10% restored evening battery use, though I kept the higher setting afterward because outages do happen here.
For me, the benefit is predictable peak-hour savings, not energy independence. I still watch the battery monitoring app, adjust charging schedules, and occasionally use grid electricity. But the solar storage system has made my panels far more useful every day, and I would install the same setup again.
