Solution Solar Battery
Really, the biggest win for us with our solar setup has been the peak hour bill savings. Before, I used to dread the evening hours, knowing the meter would be spinning like crazy as we ran the AC, dishwasher, and lights. Now, it feels like we have a secret weapon. Our battery system, a substantial unit that I can honestly say feels like the backbone of our energy independence, silently kicks in right around 5 PM, just as the sun starts dipping.
I remember the first few weeks, I’d still nervously check the electricity bill, half expecting the usual spike. But it just... didn't happen. The savings are tangible, adding up to a noticeable chunk off our monthly statement. It’s not a magic wand that eliminates our bill entirely, but it’s definitely brought it down significantly, especially during those expensive peak times. We’ve even started running the electric car charger during those stored battery hours, which is a huge relief not to have to worry about adding to the grid bill. While we initially looked at a smaller system, going with something more robust, like the capacity we have now (and I can tell you, it feels like it’s paired with something as reliable as a growatt 20000 in terms of performance), was absolutely the right call. It gives us peace of mind, knowing we're not solely at the mercy of the utility company's pricing.
