Solution Solar Battery DIY Parts
Unbelievably, it's been a year since we got our solar setup with a sunpays lithium battery, and honestly, it’s been a game-changer, especially for our evening power usage. We live in a neighborhood with pretty steep peak hour electricity rates, and before the battery, those few hours after dinner were always a nervous time on the meter. We’d be constantly thinking about what lights were on, if the dishwasher could wait until later, and heaven forbid, if we needed to run the oven and the air conditioning simultaneously.
Now, it’s like a weight has been lifted. We charge the battery throughout the day with our solar panels, and then as soon as those dreaded peak rates kick in around 5 PM, we just… switch over. The house runs off the stored solar energy. The best part is, it's completely seamless. There's no flicking lights or noticeable interruption. We can run our appliances, even the oven for baking, without that nagging worry about the bill skyrocketing.
I remember the first week, I kept checking the app, almost in disbelief, as the grid electricity usage stayed practically at zero during those peak times. The app clearly shows the battery discharging, and our solar production either topping it up or feeding directly into the house. It’s not just a theoretical saving; we’ve seen our monthly bills drop by a noticeable chunk, easily paying for itself over time. It’s given us a level of energy independence I didn’t think was really achievable for a regular homeowner.
