Solution Solar Inverter
Every evening, after dinner, I glance at the app to see how our solar battery handled the day. Before installing storage, our rooftop panels sent excess electricity back to the grid at a disappointing credit, then we bought power back during expensive evening peak hours. That pattern was the reason I finally added a ferrex battery system.
Installation was less dramatic than I expected. The installer mounted the battery in our garage, connected it to the inverter, and programmed a reserve level for outages. I asked for a fairly conservative 25-percent backup reserve, so we would still have emergency power without completely emptying the unit. The electrician explained the monitoring app clearly, and I could see charging, discharging, and grid import almost immediately.
The biggest practical difference appears between four and nine p.m. On sunny days, the battery fills by midafternoon and runs our refrigerator, Wi-Fi, lights, and television after sunset. Instead of buying peak-rate electricity, we use energy produced on our roof earlier that day. My monthly bill has fallen by roughly 35 percent during summer, although the actual saving changes with weather and utility rates. On cloudy weeks, the battery still helps, but it cannot perform miracles.
One troubleshooting moment taught me more than a brochure. One morning, I noticed the battery had not discharged overnight. The app showed “standby,” although the house was drawing power. A firmware update had reset the operating mode to backup only. I switched it back to self-consumption, and normal operation returned that afternoon. Since then, I check settings after updates. After eight months, I am happiest with the routine. The battery has made our solar investment useful after sunset, not just impressive at noon. I still use the grid, but peak shaving makes the biggest difference to our budget.
