Over the last winter, my solar battery has changed when I use electricity at home. Before installing it, I watched the app nervously whenever the kettle and heat pump ran together. Now my rooftop panels charge the battery through the afternoon, and the stored energy carries us through the expensive evening hours.
The setup was less intimidating than expected. My installer mounted the battery in the utility room and paired it with a solis växelriktare. I did not need to change my daily routine; I simply set the system to prioritize self-consumption and reserve twenty percent for outages. The monitoring app showed solar generation, battery state of charge, and grid import in near real time, which made the first week oddly satisfying. I kept checking it like weather.
The biggest difference appears after dinner. Last December, my old electricity bills were roughly 30 percent higher because we heated and cooked during peak pricing. With the battery discharging from about 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., grid consumption fell noticeably. My monthly bill dropped by about 35 euros, even though the weather was cloudy and the heat pump ran often. That is not a dramatic promise of energy independence, but it is money I can actually see staying in my account. I also like that the battery does not blindly empty itself: on sunny mornings, it saves enough capacity to absorb midday solar production.
The only hiccup came during a firmware update. The inverter briefly showed a communication warning, and the battery stopped discharging for around ten minutes. I switched the system off and on using the manufacturer’s instructions, then checked the cable connections. The warning cleared, and the stored energy resumed flowing that evening. I have not needed technical support since.
For me, predictable evening savings matter more than fancy statistics on paper.
