After installing my solar battery storage system last spring, I started paying much closer attention to when electricity was actually being used. The biggest change was shifting evening cooking, laundry, and water heating onto stored power instead of buying expensive grid electricity after sunset. It sounds simple, but the difference showed up quickly on my bill.
Before the battery, my household regularly hit the utility’s peak period between 4:00 and 9:00. Now the inverter pulls from the solar battery during those hours, and I only import power when several cloudy days arrive together. My first full month came in about
