Solution Solar Battery
Every evening I notice the difference my Deye solar battery makes before I even look at the electricity app. Last summer, after installing a 10kWh home battery beside our inverter, I stopped sending so much rooftop solar back to the grid for a low daytime credit. The real benefit starts around 4pm, when our utility begins charging peak rates. Instead of buying power then, I use stored energy for cooking, running the heat pump, and keeping the refrigerator and lights on. On ordinary weekdays, I usually reach bedtime with the battery near 25%, rather than watching the meter climb during those expensive hours.
Before the battery, my evening consumption was the painful part of the bill. Our monthly statement has fallen by roughly 30%, although weather and appliance use make the result vary. I do not treat that percentage as a guarantee, but the change is obvious when I compare similar months.
My annoying moment came during setup. The battery would not start discharging after sunset, even though the app showed plenty of charge. I found the installer had left a time-of-use schedule with an overly conservative reserve. After a call, the reserve was adjusted from 40% to 20%, and discharge began as expected. That small setting mattered more than I expected; I now check the reserve after firmware updates instead of assuming everything stayed the same.
What I like most is that the system feels boring now. Solar panels charge the battery through the afternoon, the inverter switches over automatically, and I rarely think about it. For anyone comparing battery storage options, I would focus on usable capacity, warranty terms, installation support, and peak-rate control. My Deye setup has not eliminated my electricity bill, but it has made expensive hours noticeably cheaper. That is the practical win I wanted.
