1500w inverter

5 months ago, I installed a 10 kWh lithium solar battery beside my garage, mainly to stop buying expensive electricity in the evening. I already had rooftop solar, but before the battery, my panels shut down around dinner time while the house started pulling power from the grid. The battery changed that routine immediately. I paired it with a 1500w inverter and a simple energy monitor, so I can see solar generation, household consumption, and the battery state from my phone.

The biggest difference appears during peak hours. My utility charges more from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., exactly when dinner, lights, laundry, and the heat pump are running. Now the battery usually fills late morning, then discharges through that expensive window. On clear days, my evening grid use has dropped from roughly 8 kWh to 1 or 2 kWh. That is saving me about $35 to $45 per month, depending on weather and rates. It is not a dramatic overnight payback, but seeing the meter barely move while the house is busy feels genuinely satisfying.

I did have one small scare during the first week. The battery stopped discharging at about 42 percent, even though the app showed the house using power. I checked the obvious things first: the operating mode, time-of-use schedule, and backup reserve setting. The installer had left the reserve at 40 percent, so the system was protecting that emergency battery backup rather than saving money. Lowering the reserve to 20 percent fixed it, and I kept the higher setting only before storms.

Overall, this home energy storage setup has made solar power much more useful to me. I still watch the weather and occasionally pull from the grid, but the battery backup now handles the costly evening hours quietly, without changing how my family lives.
