My main reason for choosing this setup was peak-hour savings, not backup bragging rights. Before the battery, I often saw our electricity meter climb after dinner, when cooking, showering, and running the dishwasher overlapped. Now the battery usually reaches full charge around early afternoon, and the app shows it discharging from roughly 4:00 p.m. until bedtime. On ordinary weekdays, I use stored energy for lights, the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and our heat pump instead of drawing from the grid at the expensive rate.

Our evening usage has not changed much, but our bill has: the first full month was about 31 percent lower than the same month last year, despite slightly colder weather. I do not claim the battery erased our bill, because the fixed connection charge remains and cloudy stretches still require grid electricity. However, seeing fewer peak imports on the monitoring graph feels genuinely useful.

The one hiccup came during a rainy week when the state-of-charge hovered around 18 percent. I expected it to recharge automatically the next morning, but a firmware update had paused scheduled charging. I noticed because the app displayed a warning, not because the house went dark. After restarting the battery controller and confirming the time-of-use schedule, it resumed charging normally. Customer support answered my email the same afternoon, which was reassuring. Since then, I check the charge before leaving for work.
