Solution Solar Battery DIY Parts
Using my home solar battery system for six months, I have become obsessed with watching our electricity flow each evening after work instead of guessing what the meter is doing.
Our setup is fairly ordinary: twelve rooftop panels feed a hybrid inverter and a 10-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery in the garage. The installer also mentioned the exact phrase "sun2000 100ktl."
That line in the paperwork initially worried me, because I thought it was the battery model. It turned out to be an inverter reference, so I asked questions before signing.
That short conversation was valuable. I learned how the battery inverter prioritizes solar self-consumption, then charges storage, and finally exports excess power. At home, this means daytime appliances run directly.
The biggest difference appears after sunset. Before storage, our oven, heat pump, lights, and internet equipment pulled electricity from the grid during expensive time-of-use hours. Now the battery covers most.
On a typical weekday, it discharges from around 6:00 p.m. until midnight, when the tariff drops. My monitoring app shows 7–9 kWh shifted away from peak pricing depending on weather.
Our bill has fallen by about 35–45%, not because we suddenly use less energy but because we buy less during costly evening hours. In spring, the savings were especially noticeable.
The one hiccup came during a rainy week when the battery stopped discharging at 42%. The app showed a grid protection warning, and I panicked about a failed battery system.
After checking the manual, I found that high humidity had triggered a temporary safety pause. I reset nothing; once sunlight returned, the system resumed normally. Customer support confirmed it.
That experience taught me not to judge performance from one strange reading. I now check state of charge, solar production, and grid import together, rather than reacting to every alert.
