Two months ago, I stopped treating our rooftop solar panels as a daytime-only appliance. Adding a 10 kWh lithium solar battery changed how we use the electricity they produce, especially after sunset. My main goal was simple: avoid buying expensive grid power during the evening peak.

The installation itself was less disruptive than I expected. The technician mounted the battery beside our inverter in the garage, added a backup panel for selected circuits, and spent a long time explaining the monitoring app. I chose not to back up the whole house. Our refrigerator, Wi-Fi, lights, and one air conditioner are enough. The app now shows solar generation, battery charging, and household consumption in a way I can actually understand.

The biggest practical difference is our 1-ton bedroom AC. Before the battery, running it from 8 p.m. until midnight meant drawing from the grid when rates were highest. Now the battery usually covers that period. I did have to buy a stabilizer for 1 ton ac because the AC compressor caused a brief voltage dip during startup; after installing it, the inverter stopped reporting overload warnings. That small extra expense made the system feel much more dependable.

Our monthly bill has fallen from roughly $145 to between $55 and $70, depending on cloudy weather and how often we use the AC. I am not claiming total energy independence—the battery is empty by morning after a hot day, and winter production will be different. Still, the battery storage system has shifted most of our consumption away from peak hours.

The app sometimes overestimates remaining capacity on hot afternoons. Even so, seeing the battery charge from free afternoon solar and carry us through dinner and bedtime has made the investment feel worthwhile. It is practical, quiet, and already saving more money than I expected.
