Owning a solar battery has changed the way I use electricity. Before installation, my solar panels exported most of their afternoon production, while I paid the highest rates after dinner. I chose a 10 kWh system, which covers our evenings but does not run our whole house indefinitely. During a winter outage, it kept the heating controls, modem, and lamps alive for eight hours. I avoid starting the electric dryer on backup power.
