Powering our house with solar panels used to feel strangely incomplete because every sunny afternoon sent excess electricity straight back to the grid.
I wanted to use more of my own solar power, especially during the expensive evening hours, without turning the living room into a science project. The installer recommended the spf3000tl as the inverter-charger, paired with a 5kWh lithium battery and my existing rooftop array.
The physical setup was less dramatic than I expected. The battery went in beside the utility room, while the spf3000tl mounted neatly on the wall above it. I spent an afternoon labeling cables and learning the monitoring app, then watched the battery charge past 90 percent before dinner. That first evening, the system carried the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, lights, and television without any noticeable change in normal use.
The biggest difference shows up from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Before storage, those hours were when my bill climbed fastest. Now, solar fills the battery during the day, and the battery supplies most of our evening load after the panels stop producing. On a typical sunny month, my grid consumption dropped from roughly 620 kWh to 360 kWh, and the bill fell by about $48. It is not a miracle—cloudy weeks still hurt—but shifting that peak-hour usage makes the savings feel real.
I did have one minor scare during the first month. The battery stopped discharging at 30 percent even though the app showed plenty of stored energy. After checking the settings, I found the backup reserve had been set too high during commissioning. I lowered it to 20 percent, restarted the inverter, and everything returned to normal the next evening. That fix taught me more than the installation manual did: battery systems are simple day to day, but understanding reserve settings matters.
