Solution Solar Battery -
Solution LiFePO4 Battery Cell
Over the past six months, I have been using a 10kWh home solar battery with my rooftop panels, and the biggest difference has been what happens after sunset. Before the battery, my house pulled expensive grid power from about 4:30pm until bedtime. Now it charges during the day and carries us through the evening.
On a typical weekday, I see the inverter send excess solar into storage by early afternoon. Once the battery reaches roughly 95%, I stop thinking about it. At 6pm, the induction cooktop, lights, refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and washing machine run from stored energy. By midnight, the battery is usually around 35–45%, and the grid hardly appears on my bill during those high-rate hours.
My last bill was about $38 lower than the same month last year, even though our usage was similar. That is not a dramatic saving on its own, but it is consistent, and I expect the system to pay back gradually.
A small troubleshooting moment came during a week of cloudy weather. The battery stayed at 18% because I had accidentally left the backup reserve at 20% and the electric water heater used more than expected. I changed the reserve to 10%, moved laundry to midday, and the battery recovered the next sunny day.
I also use a small 48-volt pump for our well; searching for settings led me to the exact phrase “pompe de puits profond solaire 48v,” which is how I found useful wiring information, not a product I own.
The setup has been quiet, automatic, and less exciting than I expected, which is honestly a good thing. I check the battery app once or twice a week for my reassurance.
