I installed my home solar battery storage system last spring, mainly to stop buying so much electricity during the evening peak. Before that, my rooftop panels produced plenty at lunchtime, but I sent most of the surplus back to the grid and then paid full price after dinner.

I discovered the inverter had switched into a backup reserve setting after a brief grid flicker. A phone call to the installer and a firmware restart fixed it in about ten minutes. Since then, I have kept the reserve at 25% and tested backup power once each month.
