The difference showed up immediately in my utility app. On sunny days, the battery reaches 100 percent by mid-afternoon. After solar production drops, it powers the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, lights, and heat-pump water heater. I used to see our peak-hour usage jump between 5 and 9 p.m.; now the house often stays on battery power until bedtime. Our monthly bill fell from roughly $180 in summer to $75–$90, depending on cloudy weather. That is not a dramatic zero-dollar bill, but it is a noticeable saving without changing how we live.

The other surprise was how quiet the system is. My lvyuan inverter sits in the garage, and I mostly forget it is there. During the first week, I noticed the battery stopped discharging at 20 percent. At first I assumed the solar battery had failed, but the monitoring screen showed a reserve setting. The installer had left that percentage in place to protect battery life. Once I understood it, I changed the setting to 10 percent and immediately recovered about another kilowatt-hour of usable capacity.

I kept the reserve at 15 percent afterward, which feels like a sensible compromise during outages. We have not had a long blackout yet, but the backup function handled two short interruptions without resetting the router or turning off the freezer. That reliability matters more to me than graphs. Overall, this solar storage system has made our electricity use feel more predictable and less exposed to peak rates.
