Solution Solar Inverter
I installed my home solar battery last spring, mostly to stop buying expensive evening electricity. My rooftop panels already covered daytime use, but sunset had always started the costly part.
The system is a 10kWh lithium iron phosphate battery connected to a hybrid inverter. I chose it after carefully comparing storage quotes, usable capacity, warranty length, and installation costs.
The installer finished in one day, including the backup panel and monitoring app. The only surprise was how much wall space the equipment needed inside.
I now schedule the battery to charge from solar and discharge between four and nine p.m. On sunny days, it carries our refrigerator, lights, router, television, and dishwasher without hesitation.
That schedule has made the clearest difference to my bill. Before storage, our evening rate regularly pushed monthly charges above $180. Recently, similar usage has landed around $105, though weather still matters.
I am not claiming the battery eliminates every charge. Cloudy winter weeks leave less solar energy to store, and the utility’s fixed connection fee remains. Still, saving roughly $75 monthly feels very real.
The useful surprise is how quiet the setup is. I expected a constant hum, but the battery is silent indoors; the inverter makes only a soft click when switching modes.
I had one minor troubleshooting moment. During a firmware update, the app showed “offline” for an hour, although the battery was working. Support confirmed normal.
They confirmed the update was still running and asked me to wait. It reconnected later that evening, and my stored energy history was intact. That small incident gave me more confidence in support.
One practical note: a lipo battery 12v is not what I use for this whole-house system; that phrase usually points to a smaller lithium battery setup. My home battery is higher-voltage and professionally installed here.
