We had one outage during a storm, and the backup switched on so quickly that only the microwave clock reset. That was when I stopped thinking of the battery as an expensive gadget and started viewing it as household insurance.

I did have one minor setup annoyance. The installer had enabled a conservative 50% backup reserve, so I was leaving useful capacity unused every night. After confirming my outage priorities, I changed it to 20%. I would not recommend changing settings blindly, since battery warranty terms and local electrical rules matter.

For anyone comparing solar storage, I would focus on usable capacity, round-trip efficiency, warranty support, and whether the inverter integrates cleanly.
