I installed a 5 kWh LiFePO4 solar battery in my garage last spring, mainly to keep evening electricity use off the grid and make better use of my rooftop panels.
The setup was less intimidating than I expected, although lifting the battery onto its wall bracket definitely required two people and a calm Saturday morning. I am not pretending the battery erased the bill: cloudy days still mean grid electricity, and charging from the grid during a long rainy spell can reduce the savings. Still, watching the app show solar charging at noon and battery discharge during peak pricing has made energy consumption feel tangible rather than abstract.
My only real troubleshooting moment came in July, when the battery stopped discharging overnight and the inverter displayed a communication warning. I checked the cable, restarted the inverter, and discovered a loose data connection where the battery communication lead entered the terminal block; tightening it restored normal operation within minutes.
