Solution Solar Inverter
I installed a 10kWh solar battery in my garage last spring, mainly to stop buying expensive evening electricity from the grid. My system uses a 48V inverter and a battery built around lifepo4 280ah grade a german cells. I was less interested in chasing maximum solar output than making our daily routine cheaper, and that is where the setup has genuinely helped.
Installation was straightforward, although the battery weight surprised me. The electrician mounted the inverter beside it, added a proper fuse and isolator, and connected the unit to my existing rooftop solar array. I spent more time deciding where the cables should run than I expected. Keeping everything close to the switchboard made the final wiring neat, but the garage still needed a little ventilation and protection from direct afternoon heat.
The biggest difference shows up between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Before adding storage, our oven, lights, television, and heat-pump water heater all pushed us into the expensive peak period. Now the solar battery charges during the day, then covers most of that evening load. On a sunny day, it is usually still around 35 percent when we go to bed. My electricity bills have dropped by roughly 30 to 40 percent, depending on weather and how much cooking we do. That saving feels more meaningful than the headline battery capacity because it repeats every night.
The only hiccup was a low-battery warning during a run of cloudy days. The app showed that the reserve setting was simply too high for that week. I lowered the backup reserve from 30 to 20 percent, and the inverter began using more stored energy in the evening. I raised it again before a storm. The adjustment taught me that solar storage is not effortless; checking the battery monitor matters.
