The savings became obvious on the first month. Before the battery, our bill averaged about $185. After installation, with air-conditioning use, it fell to $92. The difference happens between 4 and 9 p.m., when the house runs on stored solar instead of grid electricity. I still pay a connection charge and occasionally draw power on cloudy mornings, so the bill is not magically zero. Still, cutting roughly $90 per month feels more tangible than watching a dashboard promise savings.

I did have a scare. The app showed the battery at 8 percent that evening, though it had been sunny. I discovered that a firmware update had changed the reserve setting from 20 percent to 5 percent. The installer corrected it remotely, and the reading returned to normal the day after. I check the reserve after updates.

For me, the battery is less about chasing perfect independence and more about making solar useful after sunset. That practical shift has made the system feel worthwhile, and I expect the life battery to earn its keep gradually over several years.
