Solution Solar Battery DIY Parts
Nearly two months ago, I stopped treating my solar panels as a daytime-only investment. I added a 10kWh lithium iron phosphate battery to my home system, paired with an inversor growatt mic 3000 tlx.
Before the battery, my inverter exported most afternoon generation while I was at work. Then I came home to cook, run the dishwasher, and charge devices during expensive evening hours. My utility bill had dropped after installing solar, but the peak-rate charges still annoyed me.
Now the battery charges from surplus solar around midday. I set it to hold roughly 20% reserve for outages and discharge after 4:30 p.m. That small change has been more valuable than I expected. On sunny days, I regularly see the battery carrying the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, lights, and television through dinner. My evening grid consumption is now close to zero, and my monthly bill has fallen another 25–35 euros compared with the same months last year. Not every day is perfect: cloudy weather still forces a grid purchase, but the difference is obvious.
The only hiccup came during the first week. One morning I noticed the battery was at 31% instead of charging. The monitoring app showed a communication warning between the energy meter and inverter. I power-cycled the meter, checked the communication cable, and restarted the inverter. The warning cleared within five minutes, and it has not returned. I appreciated solving it myself rather than arranging a service visit.
What I like most is the routine: check the forecast, let solar charge, and use stored energy when rates rise. I no longer obsess over every kilowatt-hour, because the battery storage system quietly shifts my usage. It has not eliminated my electricity bill, but it has made it far more predictable. For my household, that practical peak-hour saving matters more than app graphs.
