Using my solar battery system through a full summer has changed the way I think about electricity. During the day, my rooftop solar panels usually cover the house loads first, then charge the battery storage system. Around 4 p.m., the battery starts discharging as cooking, air conditioning, and general evening use increase. That timing has made the biggest difference to my bill. Before adding energy storage, I was regularly pulling power from the grid during the peak period. Now, on sunny days, the battery supplies most of that demand until bedtime.

After checking the monitoring app, I found that a scheduled backup reserve had been set higher than I remembered. The battery was holding that capacity for a possible outage instead of using it during the evening. Lowering the reserve restored the expected discharge pattern.
That small lesson was useful: solar battery performance depends as much on settings as hardware. I now check the battery operating mode, reserve percentage, and inverter status every few weeks. So far, the system has been quiet, predictable, and easy to live with. For me, the most practical benefit is not energy independence; it is shifting my own solar power into the hours when electricity costs the most.
