Running my solar battery after sunset has changed how I use electricity at home. I installed a growatt sph 3600 compatible LiFePO4 Battery last spring, mainly to avoid buying expensive grid power during the evening peak. My rooftop solar system is fairly modest, so I wanted reliable energy storage rather than a complicated setup.
The installation itself was easier than I expected. My installer mounted the battery in the utility room, connected it to the Growatt inverter, and configured charging during sunny hours. On a normal day, the battery reaches full charge by mid-afternoon. Around 5 p.m., it takes over from solar and powers the refrigerator, Wi-Fi router, lights, television, and sometimes my washing machine. I usually set the reserve level around 20 percent, so there is still a little backup capacity overnight.
The biggest practical difference appears on weekdays. Before adding battery storage, I was pulling electricity from the grid while cooking dinner, running the dishwasher, and charging devices. Those activities used to create a noticeable peak-hour bill. Now the LiFePO4 battery handles most of that period. My monthly bill has dropped by roughly 25 to 35 percent, depending on weather and how much heating or cooling we use. I do not consider that a perfect number every month, but the savings are consistently visible.
I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. After a firmware update, the battery stopped discharging for one evening. The inverter app showed it was connected but waiting. I restarted the inverter, checked the battery communication cable, and restored the discharge schedule. It worked normally the next day.
So far, the system has been quiet, dependable, and easy to monitor. For me, the best feature is not maximum capacity; it is simply using my own solar power through the evening instead of buying it back from the utility when rates are highest.
