Running my growatt spf 4000 inverter with a 4.8kWh lithium battery has changed how I use power at home. Before the solar battery, I sent most afternoon generation back to the grid and bought electricity during the expensive evening window. Now the battery charges from my rooftop panels, then runs the refrigerator, lights, Wi-Fi, and television after sunset. That simple shift has been the biggest practical improvement.

My daily bill used to average about $6.80, including peak rates. On sunny days, the battery usually covers four to five evening hours, and my bill has fallen to roughly $3.10. That is not a dramatic overnight miracle, but saving around $100 a month during summer is very noticeable. My solar self-consumption is also much higher; I now use roughly 80% of what I generate instead of exporting it cheaply.

The one hiccup happened during a cloudy week. The Growatt inverter showed a low battery warning before dinner, and the backup load switched off for a few minutes. I initially assumed something was broken, but the monitoring app showed the battery had reached its minimum state of charge setting. I raised that reserve slightly and reduced the water heater load during peak hours. Since then, the system has behaved normally, and I appreciate having a clear battery management setting rather than guessing.

Installation was straightforward, but I would leave space around the equipment and label every cable. My utility company still sees the grid connection, while the inverter quietly balances solar charging and household demand. I have not needed a generator since adding this energy storage system, although I keep one for extended outages.

For me, the value is daily reduction in peak electricity purchases. Watching the battery climb each morning and carry us through dinner makes it genuinely useful everyday.
