Solution Solar Battery
Running my solar system with a growatt spf 3000tl compatible LiFePO4 Battery has changed how I think about electricity at home. Before adding storage, my panels exported most of their midday production, while we bought power back during the expensive evening hours. That felt especially wasteful in winter, when the heat pump started running just as solar output disappeared.
The installation was less dramatic than I expected. I mounted the battery in the garage beside the inverter, and my electrician configured it to charge from solar first and discharge from 4pm to 9pm. I chose a 5kWh LiFePO4 battery, which is modest, but suits our typical evening load. We usually run the refrigerator, router, lights, television, and occasionally a washing machine without touching grid power.
The clearest difference appears on the bill. My utility has time-of-use pricing, so shifting only a few kilowatt-hours out of the peak window saves roughly $35–$50 each month. That is not a miracle, but it adds up, and the battery also gives me backup during short outages. I noticed the savings more than the backup because our neighborhood has reliable service, yet it is reassuring when a storm flickers the lights.
I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. After a firmware update, the inverter stopped discharging at the scheduled time. I checked the app and found the battery reserve setting had reset to 30%. Lowering it back to 15% restored normal operation, although I now check settings after updates instead of assuming everything stayed unchanged.
Overall, this solar battery setup has been practical rather than flashy. I still watch daily energy use, but I no longer feel I am throwing away afternoon sunlight. For my home, storage has made solar power noticeably more useful and my monthly electricity bills easier to predict.
