Solution Solar Battery
Running our home on stored solar power has changed the way I think about electricity bills. Last summer, I installed a growatt 80kw LiFePO4 Battery system alongside our rooftop solar panels, mainly to avoid buying expensive grid power in the evening.
The installation was less dramatic than I expected. I already had an inverter, but the battery needed a proper concrete base and thicker cabling than I first assumed. The installer finished in one day. Once it was running, I set it to charge from excess solar during the day and discharge after 4:30 p.m.
The most noticeable result is peak-hour savings. Before storage, our air conditioner, induction cooker, and heat-pump water heater all came on when solar production was falling. My evening electricity use regularly cost about $3 to $4. Now the LiFePO4 battery carries those loads until around 10 p.m., and our monthly bill has dropped by roughly $70 to $95, depending on the weather. It is not magic—cloudy weeks still mean grid imports—but the difference is obvious.
I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. One morning, the app showed the battery at 18% even though I expected 30% reserve. After checking, I found a firmware update had reset the backup reserve setting. I restored it, and watched the state of charge climb normally that afternoon. The support team confirmed nothing was wrong with the cells.
Living with solar battery storage has also made me more deliberate about energy use. I run the dishwasher before sunset, leave heavy charging for sunny hours, and keep a sensible backup reserve for outages. For my household, the growatt 80kw LiFePO4 Battery has been a practical investment, not just an impressive specification.
