Solution LiFePO4 Battery Cell -
Solution Solar Inverter
Xmas was when I stopped treating my solar panels as a daytime-only investment. Last December, I added a 5 kWh lithium battery to my solar system, mainly to avoid buying expensive evening electricity. The installation took a day. The electrician mounted the battery in my garage, connected it to the hybrid inverter, and explained the mobile app without drowning me in technical jargon.
The first week was satisfying. By late afternoon, the panels had charged the battery to around 90 percent. After dinner, the battery supplied our lights, refrigerator, Wi-Fi router, and television. Our house is modest, so stored energy normally carried us through the peak period until about 10 p.m. Before the battery, my evening usage showed up on the bill. Now my grid import has dropped by roughly 35 percent, and our monthly bill is $45 lower during the months.
What surprised me was how the battery changed my habits. I run the washing machine and dishwasher while solar production is high, then save the battery for cooking and evening use. I set a 20 percent reserve because I do not want to drain it every night. That reserve has helped during two outages; the lights flickered, but the inverter kept circuits running.
I spent time comparing solar battery brands and searching phrases like "exide inva tubular battery price" before deciding. The tubular option looked attractive for its technology and lower upfront cost, but I chose lithium for the smaller footprint, quieter operation, and usable capacity. Monitoring battery state of charge has been easy, and I have not needed maintenance beyond checking connections and keeping the area clear.
It was not a magical bill-eliminating upgrade, but it made my solar investment more useful after sunset. For me, reliable backup power and predictable peak-hour savings have justified the purchase.
