I did have one minor troubleshooting scare. During a cloudy afternoon, the battery stopped discharging and the app showed “standby.” I first assumed something had failed, but the inverter had reached its low state-of-charge reserve. I had raised the reserve from 10% to 20% earlier that week, and it resumed normally after the next full solar charge. That small lesson made me appreciate having a backup reserve instead of chasing every last watt.

My current setup is grid-tied with battery backup for the refrigerator, internet, and a few lights during outages. It is not completely energy independent, and winter production will be weaker, but the solar battery has already changed how I use electricity. Payback is a long game, but monthly savings make it worthwhile.
