Yesterday, I checked my electricity app and realized I had gone nearly three weeks without pulling much power from the grid during the evening peak. That is the part of owning a home battery I notice most. My solar panels usually finish producing around 4 p.m., but our household still uses plenty of electricity afterward—cooking dinner, running the dishwasher, and charging phones. Before installing the battery, those hours were expensive. Now the stored solar energy carries us through most of the evening.
I installed a Dyness lithium battery system last summer, mainly because my utility introduced higher time-of-use rates. The setup was less disruptive than I expected. The installer mounted the battery in the garage, connected it to the hybrid inverter, and configured a reserve level so I would not completely drain it. I keep the backup reserve at 25 percent, although I may lower that during the summer when solar production is stronger.
The savings are not dramatic every single day, especially after several cloudy days, but they are easy to see over a full billing cycle. My evening grid consumption has dropped by roughly 60 percent, and my monthly bill is usually $45–$70 lower than it was before. I also like seeing the battery charge from excess solar instead of watching that energy disappear into the grid at a low export rate.
I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. After a firmware update, the monitoring app showed the battery as offline even though the system was working. I restarted the communications gateway and waited about ten minutes; the connection returned without needing a service visit. Since then, the app has been reliable enough for checking battery state of charge and daily solar generation.
My dyness lithium battery review is simple: it has made my solar investment more useful after sunset, with reasonable savings and little day-to-day effort.
