Solution Solar Inverter
On summer afternoons, my rooftop solar system used to send almost everything straight back to the grid. Since adding a 10kWh lithium solar battery, that routine has changed noticeably.
I chose the battery mainly for evening cooking and air conditioning, not because I wanted to chase energy independence. My electricity plan charges much more between 4pm and 9pm, and the battery now covers most of those hours. On a normal sunny day, it reaches full charge by roughly 2pm. After dinner, the inverter quietly draws from storage instead of the grid.
The savings are easy to notice on my bills. Before installation, our monthly summer bill averaged about $210. After two comparable months, it was closer to $125, although weather and rates obviously vary. The biggest difference comes during those expensive peak hours. I still import electricity overnight when the battery is empty, but that costs less than running the air conditioner at 7pm on grid power.
One small surprise was learning that the app and the inverter did not always agree at first. The app showed 18% remaining, while the wall display showed 24%. I contacted the installer and discovered the reserve setting was displayed differently from the usable battery percentage. Nothing was wrong, but I wasted a couple of evenings worrying about a fault.
The phrase double battery inverter appeared in the product paperwork, and I initially assumed it meant twice the storage. In practice, it refers to the inverter configuration, so I would check the actual battery capacity rather than relying on marketing wording.
Overall, the solar battery feels practical, quiet, and worthwhile for my household daily.
