Solution Solar Inverter
Even after adding solar panels, my evening electricity bill still bothered me. Most of our household use happens after sunset—cooking dinner, running the dishwasher, charging phones, and occasionally using the air conditioner. I decided to add a battery storage system built around the deye sun 10k g05, mainly to keep more of my own solar power instead of sending it back to the grid for a relatively small credit.
The setup was less dramatic than I expected. The installer mounted the inverter and lithium battery in the garage, connected the solar array and smart meter, and spent a good while checking the monitoring app. I did have to adjust the battery schedule during the first week. Initially, it began discharging too early in the afternoon, leaving less stored energy for the expensive evening period. After changing the time-of-use settings, the system started charging from solar during the day and discharging from about 5 p.m. until bedtime.
That change made the biggest practical difference. Before the battery, my house would export plenty of power at lunchtime, then buy electricity again after dinner. Now, on a sunny day, the battery usually carries us through the evening peak. Our monthly bill dropped by roughly 30–40 percent compared with the same season last year, although the exact savings depend heavily on weather and utility rates. I still import power overnight, so I am not pretending the house is completely independent.
One minor annoyance was a warning in the monitoring app after a firmware update. The battery continued working, but the state-of-charge display froze at one percentage for several hours. Power-cycling the communications gateway fixed it, and the installer confirmed the battery itself was fine.
After several months, I appreciate the system most when electricity prices are high. The solar battery quietly shifts my energy use into the cheaper, self-generated hours, which feels more useful than simply watching solar production numbers climb.
