Solution Solar Inverter
Every evening, I check my solar battery app before bed, mostly because I like seeing how much energy we kept out of the grid. I installed a 10kWh lithium battery last spring after watching our electricity bills climb during the summer peak. The panels already covered much of our daytime use, but without storage we were sending cheap midday power away and buying it back at dinner time.
My biggest surprise has been the peak-hour savings. On sunny days, the battery charges by early afternoon and starts discharging around 4 p.m. We run the dishwasher, charge phones, cook dinner, and turn on the heat pump without pulling much from the grid. Before installation, our worst evening usage was roughly 8–10kWh. Now it’s usually closer to 1–2kWh. My monthly bill fell by about $45–$70, depending on weather and the utility rate. That is not a dramatic headline number, but it adds up, and the battery should pay for itself much faster than I expected.
I did have one small troubleshooting moment in January. The battery stopped discharging during a cold evening, even though the app showed plenty of stored energy. I found the inverter had switched to backup reserve mode after a brief outage. I lowered the reserve from 30% to 20%, and normal operation returned the next day. The installer later explained that the setting was protecting backup capacity, not indicating a failed lithium ion battery.
I researched plenty before buying, including articles calling one model the “best lithium battery 2022,” but real life mattered more to me than a ranking. I wanted a solar energy storage system that quietly shifted consumption away from expensive hours. So far, it has done exactly that. I still watch the state of charge, and I avoid running every appliance at once, but the routine feels easy.
