deye f13

Every evening, I check my solar app almost as casually as I check the weather. Since adding the deye f13 battery to my home system, the graph has become my favorite household number. Before the battery, my panels produced plenty during the day, but cooking, laundry, and heating happened after sunset. I was exporting cheap daytime electricity and buying it back at the expensive evening rate.

The biggest change is how deliberately we use stored power. The battery charges from our rooftop solar through the afternoon, then carries the house through peak hours. I set the inverter to keep a small reserve, but otherwise it discharges until bedtime. On a typical sunny day, we now use 8 to 10 kWh from storage. Our evening grid consumption has dropped dramatically, and our bill is usually $60 to $90 lower than it was before, depending on rates. That saving feels more real than a capacity figure.

A troubleshooting moment taught me something useful. During the first week, the battery stopped discharging at about 40 percent state of charge. I thought the battery had failed. After checking the settings, I found that the backup reserve had been set too high. I lowered it to 20 percent, restarted the system, and the deye f13 began working normally. I now leave that reserve in place because a little backup power is reassuring during outages.

The practical performance has been steady: quiet operation, no noticeable heat in the utility room, and smooth switching between solar, battery storage, and grid power. I still watch cloudy-day forecasts and avoid running every appliance at once, but the system has made our energy use feel manageable rather than unpredictable. For me, the real benefit is not independence; it is using more of my own solar electricity when my household actually needs it.
