Solution Solar Inverter
Ever since I added a home battery to my rooftop solar system, our evenings have felt different. Before the installation, I sent our solar power back to the grid during the day and then bought it back after dinner. That was painful during peak pricing.
I chose a deye approved battery after comparing several solar storage options. My installer mounted the 10-kWh unit in the garage and connected it to our hybrid inverter. The installation took a day, but the setup on the monitoring app was troublesome. The battery appeared offline twice, and I had to restart the gateway and update firmware. It was frustrating, though the installer answered my call and adjusted the Wi-Fi connection. After that, the solar battery has been boring in the best way.
On sunny days, the panels fill it by afternoon. The battery then carries our refrigerator, lights, router, and heat pump through the evening peak period. I changed the schedule so charging stops before the utility peak window and discharge begins at 4:00 p.m. That setting made a difference than I expected.
Our monthly bill fell from roughly $185 to $112 in the first month, though weather and usage vary. In spring, I have seen several bills near $90. The savings are not spectacular every month, but avoiding evening electricity purchases feels worthwhile. I also like seeing the battery state-of-charge in the app and knowing essential circuits keep running during outages.
The main practical lesson has been to leave room for real-world behavior. On one cloudy day, the battery reached only 38%, so it stopped discharging before bedtime. I now watch the forecast and occasionally preserve a reserve instead of chasing every last kilowatt-hour. Overall, this solar battery setup has reduced our peak dependence without demanding daily attention, which is exactly what I wanted.
