Solution Solar Inverter
Early last summer, I installed a home solar battery alongside my rooftop PV system, mainly to stop buying expensive evening electricity. I chose a 10-kWh lithium iron phosphate unit sold under the cellcronic name after comparing usable capacity, warranty, and inverter compatibility. The installation took most of one day. My installer mounted the battery in the garage, ran new cables to the hybrid inverter, and set a 20-percent reserve so we would not drain it completely.
Before the battery, our household regularly hit the grid during the 4-to-9 p.m. peak period. Now, on sunny days, the panels charge the battery by early afternoon. After dinner, I switch on the dishwasher, heat pump, and washing machine while drawing stored solar power instead of grid electricity. My first full month showed the difference: our bill fell from about $186 to $109, despite similar weather and usage. That is roughly $77 saved, mostly by avoiding peak rates rather than by exporting surplus solar.
The battery display is particularly useful. I can see its state of charge and today's solar production from the phone app, although the numbers occasionally lag after a firmware update. One evening, the battery stopped discharging at 63 percent. I panicked briefly, checked the app, and found backup reserve had accidentally been changed to 60 percent. I restored the setting, restarted the inverter, and normal operation returned within minutes. No technician visit was needed.
I have not noticed much noise, and the garage temperature has stayed reasonable even on hot days. During a two-hour outage, the battery kept our refrigerator, internet router, lights, and a few outlets running, though I avoided the electric dryer. That small test made the backup value feel real, not just theoretical.
For me, the biggest benefit is predictable evening energy use. Savings are easy to track.
