Solution Solar Battery
After installing a 12V 100Ah lithium battery in my small home solar system last spring, I stopped treating my rooftop panels like a daytime-only appliance. The battery now stores excess production instead of sending most of it back to the grid.
The biggest difference shows up between 5 and 9 p.m., when our electricity rate is highest. Before adding energy storage, I would run the dishwasher and heat-pump water heater earlier or simply accept an expensive evening bill. Now the inverter automatically switches to battery power after sunset. On sunny days, that usually carries us through the evening peak and sometimes until midnight. My monthly bill fell by roughly 30 percent, although weather and heating use still make the exact savings vary.
I spent a ridiculous amount of time comparing “batterie lithium 12v 100ah prix” listings before buying. What mattered more than the cheapest number was usable capacity, a reputable battery management system, and compatibility with my inverter. I chose a LiFePO4 solar battery with built-in protection and a monitor. Installation was easier than expected: I mounted it in a ventilated utility-room cabinet, connected the communication cable, and changed two settings in the inverter.
The only snag came during the first week. The battery stopped discharging at 62 percent, even though the app showed plenty of stored energy. I found that the inverter had reverted to its conservative reserve setting after a firmware update. Restoring my preferred 20-percent backup reserve fixed it immediately.
Since then, the battery has been boringly reliable. I check the state of charge most mornings, but I rarely touch anything. During a short outage last month, it kept the refrigerator, router, lights, and garage door opener running without me scrambling for a generator. For me, that backup peace of mind is as valuable as the savings.
