After living with rooftop solar for two years, I finally added a home battery because my biggest frustration was watching cheap midday solar power disappear while the utility charged me most after dinner. I checked the settings and found a reserve setting holding back 15 percent for backup power. Once I understood that, the behavior made sense. I lowered the reserve, while keeping enough capacity for outages. Since then, the system has been quiet, predictable, and easy to live with. For me, this solar battery shifts everyday electricity use away from expensive evening hours.
