EVE LF105 3

Very few home upgrades have changed our evenings as much as adding a solar battery to the existing rooftop array.

Before installation, our grid electricity bill jumped whenever the utility switched to peak rates after 4:00 p.m. Now my inverter sends surplus daytime solar power into the battery, rather than exporting most of it for a small credit. By dinner time, the EVE LF105 3 battery is usually charged enough to run the refrigerator, lights, Wi-Fi, and my office monitor through the expensive hours.

The biggest difference shows up on my bill. During the first full month, our evening usage came from stored solar energy instead of the grid. Our utility statement fell by about thirty dollars compared with the same season last year. On cloudy days savings are smaller, but the battery still covers short loads and avoids pulling power during the highest rate window. I also programmed a reserve of 25%, so we are not left completely exposed if a storm knocks out the grid.

My only real hiccup happened after a firmware update. The monitoring app showed the battery at 100% for hours, but the inverter was still drawing a little from the grid. I power-cycled the communications gateway, waited five minutes, and restarted the inverter. The state-of-charge reading corrected itself, and the next charge cycle looked normal. I later learned that the gateway needed to reconnect to Wi-Fi after updates; now I check the app once after maintenance rather than assuming everything is fine.

For me, the value is not just backup power; it is using our own solar electricity when rates are highest. The system is quiet, automatic, and has required almost no daily attention. I do sweep the battery cabinet monthly and keep the area dry.
