Keeping my 5kw deye battery system charged from the rooftop solar panels has changed the way I use electricity at home. Before installing it, I barely thought about peak-hour rates. I checked the inverter settings and discovered that the time-of-use schedule had reset after a firmware update. Re-entering the peak and off-peak periods fixed it in a few minutes. Since then, I check the app every few days rather than assuming everything is working perfectly.
What I appreciate most is the quiet, automatic operation. There is no noise in the garage, and I do not need to manually switch between solar battery power and the grid. I still keep an eye on the state of charge before several rainy days, but the 5kw deye gives me useful backup capacity and better control over my energy bills. For my household, the biggest benefit is not complete energy independence; it is avoiding expensive evening electricity without changing our normal routine.
