Solution Solar Inverter
8 months ago I added a 10kWh lithium iron phosphate battery to my rooftop solar system, and the biggest change has been how much less I think about electricity bills.
Before the battery, my family used solar power during the afternoon, then pulled expensive grid electricity after dinner. Our utility calls that period peak time, and it was frustrating to watch the meter run fastest while cooking, washing dishes, and running the heat pump. Now the battery charges from excess solar around lunchtime and supplies the house from about 4 p.m. until bedtime. On clear days, our evening grid use is almost zero.
My monthly bill used to land around $180 in summer. Since installing the solar battery, it has usually been between $70 and $95, depending on weather and our air-conditioning. That is not a perfect promise of independence, but the savings feel real. I also like seeing the battery monitor show stored energy instead of exporting all the extra power for a small credit.
The setup was less dramatic than I expected. The installer mounted the battery beside the inverter, added a backup circuit for the refrigerator, internet equipment, and a few lights, then configured the energy management app. I chose the 186501s2p battery option after comparing cycle life, usable capacity, and warranty details. The app is not beautiful, but it clearly shows solar generation, battery charging, household load, and grid import.
I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. After a firmware update, the battery stopped discharging during peak hours. I restarted the gateway and called support; they corrected a time-of-use setting remotely. It was fixed within an hour, and no hardware repair was needed.
The practical benefit is quieter budgeting. Battery storage means I worry less about evening electricity use, and rooftop solar now helps after sunset.
