2 a.m. was when I first noticed how much calmer our house felt during a summer power outage. The biggest difference appears on weekdays. I programmed the battery to charge from solar and discharge during our utility’s peak hours. Previously, our evening cooking, laundry, and air-conditioning pushed the bill noticeably higher. After adding home energy storage, my monthly bill dropped by roughly 25 to 35 percent during the brightest months. It is not a dramatic overnight transformation, but seeing the battery cover dinner and the first few hours of night makes the savings feel real. I check the app once or twice a week, mostly to compare solar production with household use.

I did have one minor troubleshooting moment. On a cloudy day, the battery stopped discharging earlier than expected. The app showed a low-temperature warning, even though the garage did not feel especially cold. I found that the temperature sensor cable had been pressed against an outside wall. After moving it slightly and restarting the system, normal operation returned. Since then, I keep the battery clear of drafts and glance at the warning history now.
