Solution Solar Battery
0nce I installed a 10kwh solar system with a lithium iron phosphate battery, my main goal was simple: stop buying so much electricity after sunset. The installer mounted the solar battery in my garage and connected it to the inverter and smart meter. Setup took most of one day. I only needed to choose a wall location and change a few settings in the monitoring app. Honestly, it was straightforward for my home here.
The biggest difference shows up between 4:00pm and 9:00pm, when rates are highest where I live. Before storage, my family cooked dinner, ran the dishwasher, and watched television while pulling expensive grid power. Now the battery charges from rooftop panels during the day and discharges automatically through that evening window. On sunny weekdays, I usually see only a small amount of grid import. Last month, my bill was about $18, compared with roughly $61 previously.
I had one minor scare during the first hot week. One evening, the app showed the battery at 100%, but the house was still drawing from the grid. I checked the inverter and found its backup reserve set to 80% after a firmware update. That meant the system was saving energy instead of serving normal loads. I lowered the reserve to 25%, restarted the inverter, and the discharge schedule returned. Support confirmed the setting remotely.
I have not expanded yet, although I may add another battery module before next summer. The current 10kwh capacity handles evening lights, a refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and cooking, but it cannot run an electric dryer long. That limitation matters: storage is not unlimited backup power. Overall, the solar battery has made my investment feel practical, not impressive on paper. I would compare usable capacity, time-of-use controls, and support before features. After six months, it quietly saves money.
