Solution Solar Battery
Using my rooftop solar battery for six months has changed the way I think about electricity. The biggest difference is what happens after sunset: my home no longer immediately starts drawing expensive grid power during the evening peak period. I set the lithium iron phosphate storage system to charge from the panels through the afternoon, then cover lights, fans, refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and television from the battery until about 10 p.m. Most nights, the battery still has around 25 percent remaining, so I am not squeezing every last watt from it.
My monthly bill used to jump noticeably because utility charges were highest between 5 and 9 p.m. Now that window is mostly supplied by stored solar energy. The savings vary with cloudy weather, but I have seen roughly a 35 percent reduction in my electricity bill. That feels more meaningful than numbers because it shows up every month.
Before buying, I compared the tubular battery 150ah price with lithium battery prices and lead-acid deep-cycle options. I ultimately chose lithium because I wanted less maintenance and capacity, although the solar battery cost was higher. The installer mounted the inverter and battery in the garage. Setup took one day, and the app made it simple to watch state of charge, solar production, and household consumption.
I did have one scare during the first week. The battery stopped discharging at 6 p.m., though the app showed plenty of stored energy. I found the backup reserve setting had accidentally been raised to 60 percent during installation. Lowering it to 20 percent fixed the problem. Since then, performance has been steady. I still check the battery monitoring app after cloudy days, but I need to think about it. For me, the best proof is simple: peak-hour power now comes from sunlight I collected earlier instead of from the utility company.
