Solution Solar Battery
Using my solar battery every evening has changed how I think about our electricity bill. Before installation, our rooftop panels exported most of their midday power, while we bought expensive electricity during the evening peak. Now the battery stores that surplus energy and runs the house after sunset.
The biggest difference is between 4 and 9 p.m. I set the inverter to discharge during those peak hours, so the oven, lights, television, and heat pump use solar-generated electricity instead of grid power. My monthly bill has dropped from roughly $180 to $75, although weather and utility rates still make the numbers vary. I did not expect the savings to feel so noticeable in ordinary routines; running the dishwasher after dinner no longer feels like wasting money.
I spent a long time comparing battery capacity, warranty, monitoring features, and the sunsynk inverter price before choosing my system. The installer explained that usable capacity mattered more than the headline kilowatt-hours, especially because I wanted backup power during outages. That advice proved useful: we selected a lithium battery with enough reserve to keep the refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and a few lights running overnight.
My only hiccup happened during the first storm. The battery stopped discharging at 20 percent, and I initially thought something was broken. A look at the app showed backup reserve mode was enabled. I had accidentally set that reserve too high. After lowering it to 10 percent, the system worked normally, while still keeping a little emergency energy available.
I now check the monitoring app once or twice a week, mostly to watch solar production and battery state of charge. It has become boring in the best possible way. There are no dramatic daily chores, just quieter bills and more confidence when the grid goes down. For me, this feels worthwhile.
