Solution Solar Inverter
After installing my solar battery last spring, I noticed the difference during the evening peak period. My rooftop panels usually produce more electricity than we use at lunchtime, so the battery stores that excess instead of sending it back to the grid.
Before the battery, dinner time meant drawing power from the utility when rates were highest. Now massimo—the name printed on my unit—discharges automatically from about 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. I barely think about it. The change showed up clearly on my first bill: the peak-hour portion fell by roughly 40 percent, even though our air conditioner ran through several warm evenings.
What I appreciate most is the control. I can check the battery state of charge in the app, but I do not babysit it. On sunny days, it reaches 100 percent before lunch and carries us through the expensive hours. On cloudy days, it may reach only 60 percent, and the grid supplies the rest without any drama.
I did have one small troubleshooting moment. After a power outage, the battery remained in standby even after the panels restarted. The app showed a communication warning. I switched the system off at its isolator, waited five minutes, and restarted it. Everything came back online, and the stored energy was still there. I was relieved that I did not need a technician for something so minor.
The savings are not spectacular every month, because export credits and weather vary, but the battery has made our usage more predictable. Our average monthly bill is about $35 lower than last year, despite adding a freezer and working from home more often.
For me, that is the real value: using my own solar power when electricity costs most, rather than treating my battery as a gadget.
