I installed my home battery storage system last spring after watching too much of my solar power disappear back to the grid during the afternoon.

I still buy electricity overnight and on cloudy days, so I appreciate the system more as bill insurance than total independence.
One minor troubleshooting moment came during a heatwave.
The app showed the battery at 100%, yet my evening consumption was pulling from the grid.
I checked the breaker, restarted the inverter, and discovered a firmware update had paused the discharge schedule.
After installing it, the battery worked normally again.
That experience taught me not to panic over one strange graph, but also to keep the installer’s support number handy.
Overall, I like having predictable control over when my solar energy gets used.
The battery is quiet, requires almost no attention, and makes our household feel a little less exposed to rate increases.
That alone makes it worthwhile for me.
