Solution Solar Battery
I installed a solar battery at home last spring after my electricity bills rose. The system is a 10kWh lithium 304ah battery paired with my rooftop panels and hybrid inverter. I mainly wanted to use my own solar power after sunset instead of buying grid electricity during peak hours.
The installation took one day. The electrician mounted the battery in my garage, connected it to the inverter, and configured the battery management system through an app. I was nervous about the reserve setting, but keeping 20% available protects backup capacity. The app shows solar production, battery charging, household consumption, and grid import in real time.
Before storage, my panels exported plenty at lunchtime, then I bought power between 4pm and 9pm. Now the battery charges when solar generation is strong and discharges automatically after dinner. On a typical sunny day, my evening grid use falls from about 8kWh to 1kWh or less. My monthly bill dropped roughly 35% in spring, with bigger savings when air conditioning ran nightly. I still need grid power on cloudy days, but using stored solar during peak pricing feels far better than watching midday energy disappear.
I had one minor scare in July. The battery stopped discharging at 48%, although the app showed my house importing electricity. I checked the inverter, restarted the monitoring gateway, and discovered an overnight firmware update had switched the operating mode to backup only. After changing it back to self-consumption, the battery resumed within minutes. That taught me to check settings before assuming hardware had failed.
Six months in, I am happiest with the quiet, automatic operation. I rarely think about the solar battery now; I simply notice lower bills and less reliance on the grid. For my household, that practical payoff matters more than chasing perfect energy independence daily.
