I installed a 10 kWh LiFePO4 home battery last spring, mainly to stop buying expensive electricity during our utility’s evening peak. Before that, our solar panels often exported power at midday, then we paid for grid electricity after dinner.
The installation itself was less intimidating than I expected. A local electrician mounted the inverter and battery in our garage, while I handled monitoring setup and app pairing. On sunny days, it reaches its 90% charge limit before lunch, and we stay nearly grid-free until breakfast.
One minor troubleshooting moment came after a firmware update. The app showed the battery as offline, although the inverter display looked normal. I restarted the communications gateway, waited ten minutes, and checked the Wi-Fi connection. It reconnected without losing any settings, but that little scare taught me to keep the installer’s support number and firmware notes.
I also learned not to judge performance by the app alone; the inverter’s live power reading is more reliable. Overall, the battery has been quiet, predictable, and genuinely useful to household every evening.
