lifepo4 grade a 280ah

I installed my home solar battery last summer, mainly to stop buying so much electricity during the evening peak. My system uses a 48V battery bank built with “lifepo4 grade a 280ah” cells, connected to a 5kW hybrid inverter. I was nervous about the setup because I’m comfortable with basic wiring and monitoring, but I’m not an electrician. Fortunately, the installer handled the main connections, battery protection, grounding, and inverter settings, then showed me how to read the state-of-charge display.

The biggest difference has been between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Before the battery, my solar panels produced plenty during the day, but most of that energy went back to the grid at a low credit. At night, we used grid power for cooking, lights, the refrigerator, internet equipment, and sometimes the washing machine. Now the battery stores the extra daytime solar energy and supplies the house after sunset. On a typical sunny day, it covers nearly all of our evening use. My monthly bill has dropped by roughly 30–40%, depending on weather and how much air conditioning we use.

I usually set the battery reserve to 20% rather than draining it completely. That leaves some backup capacity for a power outage and seems kinder to the lithium iron phosphate battery over time. The battery monitoring app also makes it easy to see whether our consumption is unusually high. I discovered that our old electric kettle and space heater were the biggest surprise loads.

One small troubleshooting moment happened during the first week: the inverter stopped discharging because the battery temperature sensor showed an error. I shut the system down as instructed, reseated the sensor connection, and restarted it. Everything returned to normal, but I now check the warning screen every few days.

For me, the value is simple: more of my own solar power is used at home, peak-hour grid purchases are lower, and the system quietly does its job.
